The thing about whisky drinks is the flavors have to be strong enough to stand up to the spice and solid taste of the whisky. I love Connemara whisky, but I probably wouldn't mix it into a drink because it's so good on it's own.
This one is delish, easy to make, and will help build up your liquor cabinet just a touch with a great spice liquor called Benedictine.
Benedictine is called that because it's made by monks. I think. Let me look it up, hang on. Ah, yes! Originally used to revive tired Benedictine monks beginning in 1510, the term D.O.M. found on the label stands for Deo Optimo Maximo which translates to "to God, most good, most great" reminds us of the liqueur's origins.
- 2 ounces blended whisky
- 1/2 ounce Benedictine
- 1/2 ounce lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce lime juice
- lemon slice for garnish
Shake vigorously in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into glass and garnish with lemon slice.
